Woke up to the breaking news of an American airstrike in Baqdad, which killed a top Iranian general, Qasem Soleimani, a senior military war commander in Iraq. The attack is just the latest on the troubled relationship between the US and Iran. Once again, the tension has begun to increase in the Middle East. Everyone has remained on high alert status, waiting to see what is going to happen in defence towards this attack and further retaliation by the Iranian regime.

A new decade has just begun. Three nights ago, New Year celebrations were in full swing and 2020 New Year resolutions were made, in hope for a prosperous year head. Only three days in and World War 3 drums are beating!

Pushing politics aside, the country of Iran and the people are very different to the regime. What happens in politics isn’t the entire image, representative nor indicative of a country with such deep history. What we repeatedly see in the media about Iran is this negative image tainted by politics. The news and media never paint the whole picture. They only show one tiny fraction of a large country. They focus on governments and politics, but rarely on the rest of the people or the beautiful culture of a place. You hardly ever see any of that on the news. Nevertheless, taking considerate steps when making travel arrangements to unknown parts of the world is always a wise move. Traveling on guided tours with experts is the best way to visit Iran, especially for small groups of travellers wanting to explore the authentic culture of the exotic land of Persia and all it has to offer to the world.
